Corporate Highlights

1918
  • Shinano Kenshi Boseki Co., Ltd.(Parent Company) is founded in Nagano, Japan.
1985
  • Founded TEXEL Corporation (now Plextor Co., Ltd) in Tokyo, as a subsidiary of Shinano Kenshi Co., Ltd., with export business of background music equipment.
1986
  • Small offset printing press machines were introduced in domestic and overseas market.
1989
  • CD-ROM drives were introduced.
  • TEXEL America was established in Sunnyvale, California, USA.
1992
  • TEXEL America was relocated in Santa Clara.
1993
  • Printing Press Division was established.
  • Plextor S.A. was established in Brussels, Belgium.
1994
  • TEXEL Co., Ltd., was renamed as Plextor Co., Ltd.
  • TEXEL America was renamed as Plextor Corporation.
1997
  • Plextor Co., Ltd. office was relocated from Ueno to Yaesuguchi, Tokyo.
  • CD-R drives were introduced.
1998
  • CD Talking Book (PlexTalk) for people with visual impairments was introduced.
1999
  • CD-RW drives were introduced.
2001
  • Plextor America celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
  • Plextor America relocated Corporate Headquarters to Fremont, California.
2002
  • New Plextor subsidiary opens in China.
  • CD-R/RW DVD-ROM drives were introduced.
2003
  • DVD+R/RW CD-R/RW drives were introduced.
  • First Digital Video Converter was introduced
2005
  • Plextor Introduces the PX-760A, the world's first 18X DVD Burner
2006
  • Plextor Intorduces the PX-B900A Blu-ray Drive
