University - PlexWriter 24/10/40A DMA Jumper
24/10/40A CD-RW DMA Jumper Location
The
DMA Jumper is used to choose between Ultra DMA Mode 2 (no jumper,
default) and DMA Mode 2 (with jumper installed).
Either UDMA Mode 2 (33.3 MB/s) or DMA Mode 2 (16.6 MB/s) is more
than sufficient to supply the drive's required 3.6MB/s transfer
rate.
Why
you would want to switch jumper positions?
If
you had an Intel® 8XX series chipset that supports Ultra DMA Mode
2, you would want to disconnect the DMA jumper to enable
Ultra DMA Mode 2 on the drive.
If
you had an Intel® 4XX series chipset that supports DMA Mode 2 only,
you would want to connect the DMA jumper to enable DMA Mode
2 on the drive.
So
why would we make Ultra-DMA MODE our default for the PX-W2410TA
drive?
A
number of factors contributed to this, but primarily it is the stability
of the Ultra DMA drivers/chipsets on motherboards that make Ultra
DMA a better choice for us. We saw a number of issues on Ultra DMA
buses when transfer speed was reduced to DMA Mode. Either setting
will allow you to burn at 24X.

Please note: Later PX-W2410TA models do not include a fan.
